ISM History
International Sports Ministries (ISM) was formed in 1993 to support Christian workers who had a vision for sharing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ with those who enjoy sports and those not likely to be attracted to the organized church. Sports would be the catalyst to reach people for Christ. The work began in England and expanded into Portugal, Corsica and Scotland, and included short-term mission projects in Eastern Europe. Currently, ISM has field staff in Portugal, Argentina, India, and Africa and reaches people through not only sports, but other avenues as well. At present, the scope of our combined ministries is active throughout much of the world.
ISM is a 501(C)3 not-for-profit organization. The goal of the ISM board, composed of volunteers, has always been to provide accountability, encouragement and regular communication with the field staff. Low overhead expenses allow the greatest percentage of all contributions to go directly to the missionaries’ support.
